Oh Dew, I'm sorry. I hope you can get some relief. I bet you feel like a guinea pig after all of those tests. But if anything, an MRI should give you some answers. Has the insurance settlement helped to cover everything?
My dad used to get so frustrated with his VA doctor, who barely spoke English. He would sit at his computer, ask Dad questions that Dad couldn't hear (I tried to interpret) and enter data. Again, like Steve said, not even touching Dad. Just order more pain pills and blood tests. Grrr!I wish there was not quite so much specialized health care.
Right, second opinions ... although I have especially enjoyed going to physical therapy the times I've been there.
My primary care MD is an internist. He barely touches me ... everything spells t.e.s.t. for him. Okay.
He sent me to a neurosurgeon, years ago. That guy said he couldn't do anything for my mobility but wanted to do surgery for the pain. I went back to the internist and said "Gee, I don't know." He said, "Let's see what an orthopedic surgeon says."
That guy said, "I'm not gonna do surgery on you. You 'carry' a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis and already have all this arthritis problem in your back."
I was a kid ... probably about Dew's age. A rheumatologist had been important in my health care for years, way back when. But, you know ... I'm not sure what any of these guys would do if I had a sliver in my hand! They might not even know how to talk to each other about it ...

A friend of mine has had both joints replaced in her shoulders. She is around 70, I think. She went from not being able to wash her hair or put on a coat to being pain free. A great miracle for her health. She did all of the other things recommended first and had surgery when she couldn't take it any more. It was not easy surgery as far as recover went but she did the second one knowing what was in store for her.I feel for your pain, Dew. I've had a time when I couldn't raise either arm above my shoulders. My pain wasn't from an accident, though.
Pain washing hair, pain washing body, pain stirring gravy, pain doing just about anything. . . or nothing at all. I had physical therapy which didn't seem to do much good. I had chiropractor who did seem to help a bit -- for a while -- or not. I went to orthopedics doctor who said the right shoulder was bursitis (meds did not help). And that he could do surgery on the left shoulder but couldn't guarantee it would end up being any better.
I hate to say it because it's not what you want to hear, but in the end it was time that did the most good for my shoulder pain. Again, I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. Your prognosis should be more clear than my pain of an unknown source. It is just that in time, (and that was at least a couple of years) my body healed and everything righted itself again.
