Do You carry A knife ?

I have a small one in my purse and keep one in both the car's glove compartment and in my tool box. All three are "gifts" from the NRA over the years.
:thumbsup I have a Swiss army knife that I carried for years, now that I am ritired and usually wear sweats, it is in my desk drawer as I use a sheet rock knife for most things that I need to cut and MANY power and hand tools in my garage just steps away. :caf

Like you, NY, my first knife was given to me when I was 8 and it was one of those pearl handled dull ones as well. Managed to cut myself plenty of times with it anyway and still have two scars to show for it. Wish I still had that but I think I took it to school and lost it in a knife swap. I used to be really good at Mumbly Peg, but probably couldn't do it at all now and I wish I had taught that to my kids.

I now have many pocket knives and they are in various pockets of work jackets, in my purse, in the car, etc. I also carry a box cutter in my short or pants pocket all day as I chore around. My favorite knives are one very old bone handle one with silver decorative accents on the ends...it's a pretty, lady type knife. The other is a small two bladed Case my son gave me...I keep both of those well accounted for and my son keeps them sharpened for me. He's a little knife crazy and has many different kinds, from a machete on down to the very small. Don't know where he gets that.... :D

I used to keep a huge(6 in. blade) lock back knife in my vehicle when I was younger, as I was always on the road for work and often in unreliable vehicles, so never knew when I was going to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere...or worse, in the middle of town. One night it was around 2 am and I was washing my car at a carwash when a fella stepped over from the next bay and asked if I had a screwdriver, said he had gotten water in his distributor cap. Told him I didn't have one handy but had a something he could use, brought out that big ol' knife and he stepped back and his eyes got big...said, "What do you have THAT for????".

With a deadpan face I replied, "So that I'll have it handy when a guy comes up to me in the middle of the night and asked me for a screwdriver." He continued to back up until I let out a big hoot of laughter, smiled and lent him my knife.

Loved that knife...don't remember what happened to it...probably loaned it out to someone. :gig

I once had a huge knife. I've googled, but can't find anything even close to the wide 10-12 inch blade with a few "sawing teeth" on top. I took in to work to have sharpened (at the innocent age of 18). At the time I was working second shift and leaving work after midnight. I thought the idea of keeping the knife in the car was a good safety measure.

Not a problem carrying it into the factory. Not a problem giving it to the sharpener who brought it back the next day. BIG problem when I left that night. Nearly got fired and arrested for having such a fearsome looking weapon on factory property.

I think son keeps it in the truck now. I haven't seen the knife in quite a while, but then, he's driven my truck for 8-9 years now.

shouldn't be too surprised that's all you use Nyboy.

i have an old folding knife that has 1 blade & what i guess is called a marlin spike. found it in the tool chest when we inherited the house. i've keep it on me when i'm working around the yard. i've used it for grafting too. probably the only pic i have of it.

A Leatherman is about the only knife I use.
There's a Swiss Army Knife, that NY linked to, in the cabinet next to me. One of us received it as a gift when we retired, not too great of a knife due to it's SIZE.

THANX RICH
