Do You Use Gloves ?

I never been able to work with my hands while wearing gloves. For me the only time I wear them is for warmth. Yesterday while I was weeding some overgrown grass, I notice some blood on my hand. I had a small cut on tip of finger, did not think much of it. Today it is very painful,can not believe such a little cut hurts so much. Now I wish I was wearing gloves. Do you wear gloves while working in garden?

Heck yeah, I do! I wish I could find a better pair, though. Mine always wear out at the first and second finger tips. I use them to weed and dig and haul and lift.
Dirt dries your hands out. Potting soil really dries them out, so I use latex gloves when using potting soil inside, transplanting and such.

I TRY to use gloves. I always use them now when I saw and move wood bc we do a lot of burning at our place. I almost always wear them when I groom, tack and ride my horses. Sometimes I forget and I admit that I enjoy handling dirt with my hands.

Ha, gloves.... I have numerous pairs of ladies gardening gloves but never wear them, well, almost never wear them. I start out with good intentions but usually take them off in frustration, I like the feel of soil between my fingers. That is warm soil, when the soil is cold and wet I do wear those tough, black, rubber jobies that fishermen wear when cleaning fish. They come in different sizes and I have the size that fits my hands like surgical gloves.
I have to admit most of the gardening season my hands look like they've been through the wars, if I'm forced into going somewhere where I have to look somewhat presentable it's time to get out the bleach and give my hands and nails a soak. Never mind cat nip if Percy smells bleach on my hands she goes into throws of ecstasy, so funny to watch, she loves to sniff anything made of metal too, such a weird girl.
I hope all you gardeners keep up your tetanus shot, it's good for 10 years. This is something all gardeners should have.

I wear gloves all the time for gardening. But the only ones I can stand to wear continuously and work all day in are the Atlas nitrile palmed ones. I have to order them online now, they're getting hard to find. They fit snug and are sensitive enough for transplanting.

Even so my hands are rough and calloused and my nails are nearly impossible to keep clean. I have to break out the Waterpik to get all the grunge out of them.

Waterpik! It's not just for teeth anymore!

I try to wear gloves but they require a specific plan of work. The garden (and the dirt) call me an different times without a specific plan. Doing dishes keeps the worst of the grunge at bay. I do tend to get very dry, cracked fingers in the winter, but summer seems to be okay with not getting too dry.

I use mechanics gloves - the stretchy ones with leather on the stress points.

it all depends what i am doing...
raking, hoeing, general clean up throughout the property yes got to have them
anything dealing with soil ..no i go naked
found a leather pair at tractor supply i love them and yes love the mechanic gloves as well..

yup those little cuts on the finger tips are painful .....
