In my experience with cats inside and outside… they have never tried to get to the pond fish. Water is deep enough and the fish hide in cracks / crevices in rocks in the pond. A small water fall helps the water move to improve oxygen content in the water and a bio filter keeps the water stay clean. I don’t recommend fish in a wheel barrel lined with pond water unless they are small and yor muders like gold fish that are air suckers and don’t require air in the water. Koy fish are a bit spendy. There is a water ratio per number of fish per gallon of water for ponds. I had several for years in my in ground pond . There are water plants that float on top of the water as well as plant roots allow areas for fish to stay safe down in the water. There are predators around here that are far more aggressive than kitty cats. For instance the Giant blue heron and the raccoons are more of a threat to the pond fish than any cats around here and there are many feral cats here . Never had a cat explore the pond for fish. I have many cats.

Thank you for the knee surgery update. I am ‘Happy’ to hear your on the mend and slowly improving since knee surgery. Knee replacement surgery isn’t for sissies that’s for sure. You are a tough gal staying in the healing groove and sending hugs and healing blessings your way.

DH needs to be near to babysit me on the few times I can get outside to do ANY gardening, so I can get some help if I fall. I probably shouldn't be out this soon, 4 weeks past surgery, but DD's absolutely reFUSE to help me with much gardening and are complaining that they will have to mow here on Sunday.

Today, DH sat inside the porch and I went down the front steps backwards to sit on the 2nd step and relieve my 7 peppers--YOU know, the ones that were Supposed to be transplanted in early July to a garden bed?!?, but never made it--of the bindweed trying to strangle them.
I discovered that I had transplanted 8 peppers, one bit the dust, and that I have a 3 inch pepper, which Could be a bell, and one pepper is probably a jalepano, and has many small fruits on it.
I hand worked the soil around them and threw in marigold seeds to help with pollinators.
Here are the photos, one is before weeding, and the other two are afterwards.

Got rain last night. I can tell bc neighbors across the street have their "rain puddle" at the entrance to their driveway.
Could really use more...
Everything I have transplanted looks good, but my next job will be to water the tomatoes and all of the pots of peppers, which have lovely white flowers on them, some with fruit.

That is also a very good thing to do to keep the stock animals hydrated and the water clean. Rubber ducks and gold fish in stock tanks are great at keeping water fresh especially with a water filler function attached to a hose and faucet. Just add a plant or two not scrumptious for stock animals and you have a pond that serves two purposes. #1 to hydrate the stock animals and #2 to keep the water clean . Oh and the fish eat the mosquito larvae… horses don’t eat fish..

Talked youngest DD into helping me water!! I had the 2 plastic pitchers full and she emptied them into the whiskey barrel planter with the peppers AND helped me get my walker out so that I could water the 2 pepper pots (sans drainage holes) and the big pot with the tomatoes and peppers.
NO RAIN scheduled for the next 5 days. Just sun and heat, so everything should be fine.
