Yes, all night long it seems. If the bright light on the snow doesn't wake me up, the dog barking at shadows does.
Not complaining though. The world looks mysterious and beautiful under a full moon.

Yep. Loving the weather currently and the clear skies. I like to go out and look at the sky before sleep, last nights moon was beautiful in a brilliant clear sky.

For me, this morning, it was all a little strange.
I found myself listing to Jimmi Hendrix "Cherokee Mist." I don't know why I don't remember that. Then, to just reassure myself, I played "The Wind Cried Mary." It sounded so strange after all this time.

Not clear skies here, unfortunately. The moon was barely visible for a short while on our dog walk last night, through a whole passle of clouds. Looks like it will be about the same tonight.

Well, I'm a little less moon-struck this morning. It was brilliant last night and spectacular at moonrise mid-afternoon, lifting above the mountains to the east in the orange-red haze!
This morning, I can't even find it in the sky. The nearest airport reporting such things - has visibility at .06 mile in freezing fog! Let's see, .06 x 5,280 = 317 feet!!! Well, I can, at least, see a porch light that I know is 400+ feet from my backyard . . . but, no full moon. Sheesh!
Where would the moon be if I could see it? . . . Let's just say that it has been WAAAAYY up in the winter sky, balancing that silly sun that hides near the horizon thru the winter day.
Moonset won't be until about 7:30am here so it must be right on the horizon by now. It rose last night at about 4:30 when I got back from a drive to the east and had a chance to look over my shoulder

Yay! It is always so high at this time of the year! The road out front is east/west so, just like that pesky sun at solstice, it rises right out of the roadway and sets in the same place, 180°, or nearly so.
We always played Pinochle at home but Hearts was something the neighbor family played when I was a single guy in the sticks. I'd be partnered with their oldest daughter who was way too young for me but had real good concentration for a kid. This relieved her younger sister from the competition, apparently so she could just drift around the table, look at everybody's hand and snicker . . .
Anyway, want to Shoot the Moon? Here's your Altitude/Azimuth, Rise/Set, not only for the Moon but that silly ol' Sun, as well:

Remember to put in your location and it will show you the sun unless you also click "moon."

Full moon ? What are you talking about ? I haven't seen any moon in over a week as the weatherman says we have HEAVY FOG with visibility of 1/4 mile here in Wash.. Wow ! In Cal. we call that light fog . Now in Cal. they have signs in a row on the highways showing 300' , 200' and 100' for the drivers to judge how heavy the fog is and to drive accordingly. I have driven on I 5 at 5 mph with my head out the side window looking for the white line on the road . Now THAT is a HEAVY FOG !
