Fall wildflowers - what are these?

My 1st thought was Wild Rose, the state flower for Iowa.
What ever you have is very pretty.

I'll need to go down there today & take a picture of the leaves. I'm leaning towards a wild rose because of the way it's growing. It's really bushy and "rambling," which seems more like a rose than an anemone. It also looks like there's a second one growing in the brush across the pond.

If it is a wild rose, I would advise against bringing any to your flower beds. I have found it to be pretty invasive. Make that very invasive.

It's in a position where I would risk life & limb - or at least falling into the pond - to try to dig it up, so I'm just going to appreciate it where it is.

And it definitely has thorns, so I'm thinking wild rose is probably right.

You're right about the aster.
