No, mildew is probably caused to a large part by dampness. That is not a problem here in late summer. Usually not early summer either.

You know, balsam is a dependable grower, and an almost annoyingly dependable reseeder. And it's fun to pop the seedpods. I noticed a lot of balsam and larkspur sprouting in the fall garden. I imagine the frost will get them soon. Sure hope not all the seeds sprouted this fall. I need some to wait till spring.
