This year I planted several varieties I haven't tried before. It got me thinking...

What are your favorite tomato, and why?:)

I have many favorites... I love tomatoes I can't pick just one.

I like tomatoes - all kinds :)!

Sometimes I've eaten SunGolds grown by a friend and decided that they must be the very, very best.

Then I've eaten my SunSugars and decided that they must be the very, very best.

Then one year, my SunSugars weren't all that great. I don't know how the friend's SunGolds turned out that year . . .

Amish paste--Large, meaty and juicy, very tasty!

Green Zebra--beautiful and yummy

I can tell you one thing though. I TRIED to grow some winter wonder tomatoes that were white, and I was upset when they ended up dying after I put them out. I had my heart set on those!!! Now I will be miserable until I can grow one of those plants and actually enjoy some tomatoes from it. My compulsion to eat one of these... is... its.... just..... ARGH! I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drool

Brandywines....the name says it all!
Abe Lincolns~love the pearlescent pinky skins and sweet flavor.
Old Germans~big and lusciously sweet!

All indeterminates and big producers, no cracking or blossom end rot, no fungal diseases or blight of any kind. Just good, honest tomatoes with great flavor.

For eating fresh while in the garder, a red cherry or grape. Hard to single one out though Reisentraub (spelling?) is hard to beat. For early production, 4th of July. For eating fresh, Japanese Black.

I'd have to say Red Ox Heart is my all time favorite.
