The first time that I made jelly I used the paraffin wax sealing method and learned a good lesson. Two thin layers of wax is preferrable to one fat layer. :p I got mold growing UNDER the thick wax layer on most of my jars of apple jelly.

Thanks Pat and Simple Life. I feel better now. :D I really enjoyed canning the preserves. Something very rewarding about it. Now I'll feel better about trying the pickles and Dilly Beans my husband had hoped for. ;)
Yes, thanks Pat and Natalie!!:rose

Now I'm gathering recipes like crazy! Gonna try some jam soon.

While it is work to can, it's super satisfying once it's done! Good job!!! Enjoy them, and all the other things you have planned!

Thanks Tutter - doing jam and then mushrooms next..kinda worried about the mushrooms, but they'll be pickled for over 12 hours...so I guess I'm not THAT worried.

The only thing as nice as looking at rows of canned food on a shelf is looking at a barn filled with all your hay for the winter :)
