You know what? I finally asked him for an updated photo. But, I feel like he became lost in his yard yesterday and sent me a picture of a different plant.
Isn't this a dianthus?
DS is a busy, "essential worker," and has a yard fairly crammed with plants at a home where he has only lived a couple years.
I know that we didn't plan on having over 6 months pass without a visit, although that would be DS showing up here. Lots of confusing circumstances in our lives.

I will tell him this AM, he is an early-riser but it helps a student of nature to learn something when the information arrives when the object can be seen.
(Like me waving my hands frantically while saying to DW in a harsh whisper, "that was a sharp-shinned hawk that just flew into the plum tree after those starlings! Did you see it?!"
