One thing that troubles me about genealogy is that it is, at times, stitched together in a patchwork by someone who we may not even know and have particular reason to trust. Often nothing, and I mean Nothing, is cited in referenced to claims. Boom, it's done and then, somehow accepted by those following. The accounting becomes a part of family history and dang near sacred to some members. Pshaw! But, without documentation of our own, what can you do? Even with some written record –– does one really know for certain? And, the trail into the past steadily drifts further from reality ...
as to ancestors, all i know for certain is that i had some and they survived long enough to have children.
i'm still not sure if humans in modern form are from only one particular event or multiple events, but the life that we are based upon may also be from either singular or multiple events.
at the moment there are theories and we're making progress on figuring things out but we do not have the whole story yet and we may not ever get it but the effort is interesting.
