Gramps - Remember when we had to get up and walk to the TV to turn up the volume?

Granny - Yeah, or change the channel. Now we just have to touch a button on the remote.

Gramps - That's the theory anyway. Have you found the remote yet?

Granny - Nope. And ti's your turn to change the channel.

Remember when there was only one channel?

Simplified things.

Remember when we gathered around the radio and it was only at arm's length?

Steve

I'm a little younger than you Steve. We did not get TV until well up in the 1950's, almost 60's. Knoxville already had three channels but we were pretty well restricted to NBC and CBS. The ABC signal was just too weak no matter how we turned the antenna. When we switched from NBC to CBS someone had to go out an turn the antenna.

Yes I do. Channel 4. It came on at 4pm. Mr Rodgers Neighborhood. Then Electric Company. At 5pm came Sesame Street which was 1 hour back then I believe. Then news for 1 hour. At 7pm there was a movie, many times you could call the station and vote. Then another movie. Then the local indian tribal news. Then lights out. This was on the west coast of Alaska in a village called Bethel when I was in 1rst, 2ncd,3rd grade.
