Garden humor thread..

There was one that set up camp in one of my bean pots who would come out and look at me whenever I went to get pods. It's a bit disconcertings ooking into those eyes (it didn't help that that little jet black spider had eyes that were bright green)
 
Which brings to mind something that I've often wondered about -- more so with the new Zeta threat -- what is the purpose of mosquitoes? Other than a source of food for animals that would have survived with another food source, what good are mosquitoes?

If a breed of mosquitoes were to become endangered and close to extinction would the ASPCA, GreenPeace, or some other animal preservation group lobby for their protection? And if so, why?

Other than a vehicle to carry and spread diseases and thereby keep populations under some natural control, what purpose do mosquitoes have?

Nobody ever said that a purpose has to be good & useful.
Perhaps their purpose is what you've said.
