i can't say i've had that problem... it probably looks better?...

I had escargot once and it was surprisingly good. It just tasted like button mushrooms in the dish I was served.

i've had them a few dozen times and they have been fine with me, but i like things like clam strips, conch, calamari, octopus, sardines, ... so it hasn't ever been a problem for me if they are a bit overcooked or rubbery (which seems to be the worst issue i've ever had with them).

not that i'd be out there looking for them in the lawn, but for the bigger ones that are edible they're really good.
