Last one is daughter's butterfly garden, first one is in honor of my g'ma (her's was 20' X 50'), then shot of garden after it's bedded down w/straw. No straw, the sand will kill everything.

Hey Seedcorn, those are very nice pics of your garden! Your daughters garden is so loaded with blooms, beautiful!

I was wondering tho', is the gravity in Indiana a lot stronger than, say,... Idaho? Because I don't think my plants would stay on a steep hill like that.

Yes, gravity is in full force in Indiana. There is definite slope to the garden. It needs a lot of nature's fertilizer. Looking for rabbit raisers to load it down this fall. Don't know why, took them on phone, they look correct on phone, then put them on computer and they go sideways.......camera expert I'm not.

thanks, Lesa, my g'ma was a very sweet person. Of course she spoiled me rotten--according to my cousins. I don't ever remember seeing her working in her garden but it was always weed free. Used to love to pick seeds to try and grow them back home.

Here are a couple from today

morning glory blossom, I planted a trellis of morning glories to shade the girls coop.

cuke jungle, this patch is 23 feet long and over ten foot deep. This was from a 20 cent seed pkt.

Just one of the 14 planted gardens, this one has toms, borage, sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, volunteer squash and sunflower, beans, probably some other stuff I'm forgetting

7236_dsc_0152.jpg

another one of the gardens w/ lots of goodies, this one has the bell peppers, and cajun toms

7236_dsc_0154.jpg

purple hyacyth bean, not particularly edible (some say you can if you boil it long enough and change the water enough, doesn't seem worth the effort to me) but beautiful, and the bean is black w/ a white stripe, pretty awesome if you have a child that wants to make bean and pasta art.

7236_dsc_0161.jpg

caster bean, poisonous but beautiful and reputed to kill ground rodents.

scarlet runner beans, they are beautiful and grow like crazy! and these ones are edible.

seedcorn, your garden setting looks so peaceful. I love the surrounding area. Those snapdragons look hugh! and I love your grandma's garden. I lived with my grandma for 2 yrs. and she was pretty special. She was a gardener.

Cassandra, your garden looks very lush. So many cukes! I only have 1 spacemaster and it only has 1 cuke! Not sure if it's worth it for me.

I agree! A lovely setting and very nice gardens. I'm glad that Seedcorn showed us his gardens (even if I have to lie on the couch to look at them ;)).

We have had many examples of Kassaundra's photography skills. Count ourselves lucky! My vote goes to the Scarlet Runner bean flowers. I am fortunate to have the lady next door planting them each year. She has a fence like that and they really make it pretty during the summer months. I used to have a very sunny kitchen door and would plant a simple little trellis of Scarlet Runners right beside it each year. Along with the Wave petunias at their feet, it just made me happy going in and out of that door .
