Can Garlics be grown in containers away from the garden?

My Gophers are attracted to Alliums, a lot, and I need to make sure I do not attract Gophers to my garden. I may be able to get some more half wine barrels and have them somewhere well away from my garden. Also, my species of Gopher can't climb at all.

Oh my, those look wonderful! I had to sacrifice all of our way too early in the season, so now have to wait until next season. Enjoy!!

My poor little garlics are growing in spite of me tilling over them. I hope I get to harvest some this year.
