I worry about leaving all the time.

Last year I saw a truck with a sign that said, he waters plants. I called him this year and he retired. I then called a local nursery and asked if they new of anyone that water plants for a living and they laughed but thought it was a great idea.

Hey, that would be a great idea for a summer job. Maybe water plants, keep weeds out, feed the chickens, harvest what ever needed it, mow the lawn. Think how much a vacationer would love to come home to all that already done, rather than have knee high weeds and dead tomato plants. (Like I want a job? Hah! But somebody....)

My sister and mom keep asking me if we (DH and I) are going to go on vacation somewhere. I keep trying to think of a reason to go, and can't really come up with any. I have all I want or need here. I have all the comforts of home and don't have to work around anyone's schedule. I get good food (that I cook) and beautiful scenery (garden) and wildlife (chickens, toads, snakes, bluebirds, the occasional turkey and deer) Yes, I am retired after working 45 years. It feels great. I don't have lots of money, but I don't require much--certainly not for vacations. (Truth be told, my DH is such a cranky traveler, I would have to really want to go somewhere to make it worthwhile!)
I know what you mean. I don't want to go anywhere, home is great. The kids asked if we were gonna go camping this summer. I told them I would set up a tent down by the creek and they can camp here. They'll be out of sight of the house, can swim in the creek, I'll send them a ice chest full of food, and it's free!

Where I live is a vacation spot!

I love it here. But yea, I should get out for a week or so in the winter once every few years, go visit old friends or something...

I go nuts if I don't carve out time once a day to be in or around at least 1 bed. Just like I go crazy if I can't visit my chickens once a day!

I need that moment where I can be proud of my accomplishments, and feel loved by the fact the plants and birds need me. The don't talk back, or tell me they "Don't want to wear pink socks today" or "I hate bananas for breakfast now". They just quietly make me smile for no good reason I guess. :rainbow-sun

I live in "Vacationland". Or at least that's what is says on our license plates and billboards (when you cross in from New Hampshire) but it's no vacation! I feel sad to not be in my garden. I have not one thing planted yet! When I do feel quilty is when I spend time, energy and money on the garden and then become distracted by other things so that the garden suffers. Or like this weekend, when I didn't take care of some seedlings that I have and well lets just say, "we'll see if they survive!"
