There is nothing wrong with selective breeding and although I try not to grow many hybrids in my garden there is nothing unnatural in that either.
It is when they begin slicing and dicing unrelated genes that the trouble starts. Nature has very good reasons for keeping unrelated genes from mixing.

And now a personal note:

Many years ago...about fifteen...I think....I had been very impressed with a progressive organization I had heard on the radio. The group called themselves, WE THE PEOPLE. I wanted more information on how I might join. So with the telephone number in handone late night I called to leave a message.

To my surprise, a man answered the telephone. I am no dummy; I immediately knew who that voice was. He was calm and courteous and asked me how I had gotten that phone number. I said errrrr well, I said..from the advertising on the radio program for WE THE PEOPLE. He replied OH.

We chatted a few minutes, and he gave me every courtesy and a lot of information. He was very ardent in wanting people to get involved in the running of their own government.

Oh.you want to know who it was I was speaking to.why no other than the former and present Governor of California.the Honorable Jerry Brown.

Any man who can take a few minutes out of his day, at his inconvenience, with a heartfelt desire to assist me in getting organized to participate in my own governments affairs ..and do it in a humble and un-conceited manner.has my vote. I hope politics has not ruined him.
