I have great big beautiful cabbage. Just no heads! Does cabbage grow from the inside out or outside in?

The leaves are huge. The purple cabbage is great and has heads but not the green cabbage.

Thanks,
Ellie

Thanks, I have never grown it before. I live in a very hot climate and it is between 96 and 105 degrees this week.

I was worried that maybe that was all I would get..... leaves.

I agree, usually it does take a bit of time for them to form heads. The only thing I can really think of for a cabbage not to form a head is too much nitrogen. Seeing that you have other cabbages forming, I doubt this is the case.

The purple cabbage looks wonderful, btw. I can't wait to plant our fall crop.

Welcome, Ellie! :)

What a beautiful cabbage!

Did your seed packet tell how many days each was? If so, were the green ones more days? Were they planted at the same time?

My drumheads are doing nicely; I hope they have as much eye appeal as yours! :)

Good luck, and please keep us posted on how they are doing! :happy_flower

Are you sure those are cabbages and not possibly collards? Or maybe kale?

That was my thought also, did you purchase the plants somewhere? If so maybe the tags got moved.
