Y'all are neighbors! An hour's drive is nothing, y'all need to visit each other! Several of us on BYH have met and we do a lunch every so often.

Adam, welcome to the forum. Growing your own food is not only good for your tummy, it is good for your soul. Congrats on the homestead, can't wait to hear more about it!

We have 8 acres with 3 horses, 11 sheep, 7 Muscovy ducks, 3 dogs and a crap load of chickens!
you forgot the pigs!!!

howdy and welcome (from mid-michigan). :)

1.5 acres is plenty to keep a person busy. woodlands on the rest are great places to go play.

:welcome from Central Illinois, 30 minute drive from the University of Illinois, aNOTHER college town. We have 12 hens (4 EE's, 2 SLW's, and 6 mutts), 6 cats, 1 dog, 3 horses (2 Kentucky Mountain horses and one QH), on 5 acres, and we share those acres with some noxious weeds about to be permanently evicted.
Oh, yeah, I also grow some vegetables, fruit and flowers.
