Oldest daughter woke me, in the wee hours, what she was saying made no sense until she said very slowly: My horse~Teaternic~has fallen into the well pit!
You may have a well, ours support equipment is in a rectangle pit, there the pipe come from the Pitless adapter to the manifold with an electric,( electric from the control box,)pressure switch and guage, from there to a pressure tank and out to the house.
I dressed, less than half awake, and joined her out in the dark, looking down into the pit, I think she had a light, I saw her horse up to it's knees in water. Everything was broken smashed and out of place, the tank was to the other side of the pit from where it was installed.
HOW DO YOU GET A HORSE OUT OF A SIX FOOT DEEP PIT?
"I turned off the pump" she said.
Soon the three of us, daughters and I, were brain storming as to what could be done to get her out, Boards~what if we put 2"X 10" boards slanted into the pit and~
Finally we, together decided to get hay bales~ we got three into the pit and with rope and halter and more rope her lunging~us pulling~ she, Teaternic, lay exhausted, scratched, brused and nicked by to the side of the pit and we gripped he legs and rolled her over and away so when she stood she wouldn't fall back into the pit.
I drove to Fernley for parts and pieces so we might have water, even the lens of the pressure guage was smashed~It was after 4:00pm before we had water.
