I did the same when I planted my lettuce and carrot seeds. I was so excited I just could not wait.

mattmatts-momma : Nice garden! Is that a cabbage or cauliflower in the first picture? What kind is it? You are way ahead of me - I won't be able to plant tomatoes and the rest of my summer crops until at least Monday. Keep us posted! I can't wait to see how your black krim tomatoes turn out!

Those are 2 cabbage plants. When I first planted them, my chickens got in there and pretty much stripped the cabbage leaves. I thought the plants were goners, but they came back. I have a few more cabbage plants on the opposite end of the row.

This is my first year trying the Black Krims. So far they look good, I hope I am not stricken with a tomato disease..

What area are you living in? Your temps must be at least 10 - 15 degrees warmer than ours. Wow some great growth ya got going there.

Aha! I knew you lived somewhat near me from the vegetation in the background. I'm in Charleston, SC. Thank goodness it's cooled down a little today, huh? I can't believe it was as hot as it's been.
I'll really look forward to seeing your crop now, since we're in the same area.

It's nice to hear from someone so close. I have only been to Charleston twice. I didn't get to visit the nice areas though. My beagle was having physical therapy somewhere in an industrial area and I went to visit him. I'd like to go visit Charleston sometime with my family.

It was terribly hot and humid for a few days, I had to put the air on. It is quite a bit cooler today since the rain past through yesterday.

I have some cleanup to do this week in the garden. I'll see if I can post some pictures after.

Jealous of all the pretty pictures here's one of mostly dirt in my smaller veggie garden.

I've had this "loaded" with seed for awhile but about the only green things you can see are the shallots & lettuce in the foreground and that is bok choy transplanted near the trees. (I overshot the potato bed since nothing has emerged, anyway). There's lots and lots of little tiny plants out there but some almost require a magnify glass to locate . . .

The larger veggie garden was tilled yesterday. It is 20 miles from home and here I am sitting at the corner with the 7.5 horse tiller in the back of the pickup. The tractor guy is out there with his big Ford. Thank Heavens! He said he's been busy since March 18th but I sure would have liked to see him out there 2 or 3 weeks ago. I am very thankful that I didn't have to make the attempt on that hard, rocky ground with my tiller.

As soon as the tractor took off down the road, DW and I were out there with our "implements of cultivation," organic fertilizer, and several flats of onions, cabbage, broccoli and kale. The wind came up and beat heck out of us and the plants - today's supposed to be worse, maybe with hail and the temperature may drop into the 20's overnight - yikes!

Most everything that we've planted anywhere in the gardens can probably "take it" but it won't do them any good to freeze. Pleasant weather is ahead, I'm just sure of it !

Yea!!!! We got the kids busy and Greg and I put ALL the tomatoes into the ground last night in the greenhouse. While he was digging holes for the maters I put several hills of squash and cukes and melons into the garden. All that's left to do is the hanging peppers, hanging cherry tomatoes, beans, beets and corn. WOOT!! It's almost like we're gardening here!

I think I will try to do a couple of hanging cucumbers and a pepper too. Dh's hanging tomato seems to be doing OK and folks that come to the greenhouse like the idea. A couple of ladies said they would like to know how it works out. I told them come on by and check it out it will be hanging around right there.

Well gota get back to work, have a bit of paperwork to finish here at the office
