@Larisa I am so grateful that you found this forum and can share such beautiful pictures of your country. I had no idea that Russia is so beautiful. I always pictured a cold snowy place, but you have brought us the beauty of your home. Thank you so much! It is indeed, a Great Big World!

I have thought Russia beautiful since first seeing Dr. Zhivago as a young teen. The beauty of the scenery was the only part of the movie that was truly better than the book. My imagination didn't do justice to the cities or countryside as shown in the movie.

Then I'll tell you what you have lost. Travel to Amsterdamu- the same as jumping on carousel horse in «Through the looking-glass» by Lewis Carroll.
This is a crazy city! There legalized drugs. Many bars. Coffee with the drug, bun
with the drug. This smell floats through the streets. "Dancing" Old houses. They lean in different directions. One local resident told me, she puts the glass of water. She understands how leaned house.
Some old lady have fun. They take to the streets and wear signs saying: "Hug". They embrace all the passers-by.
In the Netherlands people like children. If children do not learn, it is not a shame. Simply, they are in the second year to teach this program again. Sometimes it's an entire class. Nothing wrong.
Ad in the newspaper: "We invite you to recruit people with higher education. Or people with no education, but higher education mentality. "
This is the normal outside toilet. For men? No! For both men and women. Pharmacies sell special tools for women to use the toilet standing up. Everything is simple.
Perhaps once there were representatives of the Holy Inquisition and witch hunts discussed.
The Holy Inquisition has long disappeared, and the witches are still here. Here is one sitting on the street and entertains tourists for coins.
And here monks live. They think it is their duty to pray for the sins of Amsterdam.
One of them prayed all his life, but thought it was not enough. So she left a will - to bury her on the road. People should go and trample on her grave.

Yes, most Americans are from a fairly recent "somewhere else."
Obviously, I left The Netherlands too many centuries ago
. Or, some of my y chromosome left there. They completely missed the tulip boat in the late 16th century. Instead, showing up in Virginia, about 50 years later. At least, that is what folks in the Mormon church have to say on the family.
It took an Irishman, however, to realize the worth of an Indian bride (2 in fact!). Their daughter, or granddaughter, married into the Dutch family. An orphaning of their grandsons made the transition to native culture nearly complete, as they were raised by an aunt who, somehow, was considered by the family as "full-blooded."
Such is Brand digitS' - which, of course, should be of great value and a boon to prosperity but ... alas, is not.
