I would love to sample a slice of that cake!!!Our weather in April is unbelievably sunny - although the night is still cold (3~5C, light frost sometimes, but didn't cause damage).
I spent again many many hours in the garden as now i have two full days off. I picked purple and yellow as the main colors for the container-based garden in front of the cafe. All kinds of pansies also join salad and desserts.

This morning I made a cake for a little girl who has birthday today. She chose green grapes and blueberries for the filling.
A birthday cake made with only natural ingredients — no artificial flavors, no complicated decoration.

Both the earl grey cake and the cream chantilly are light in sugar, and guided by the quiet beauty of fruits, pansies, and mints.

Simple, gentle, and made for a lovely moment.
I feel that the things I truly love are finally settling back into place in my daily life.
I love the story about the young girls that come and eat cupcakes and then buy plants! Many things are happening in the garden and cafe, so time really flies.
We finally have some rain here, after almost 3 weeks warm, sunny, and dry weather. I already started collecting rinsing water for the newly transplanted perennials, too dry.
Remember I set up a mini plant stand in front of the cafe, and people can take what they want to grow in their garden, and decide how much money they want to pay? After 1.5 month, it gradually attracts small attentions. Some customers doubt if those plants will survive in late March or early April (as our region is a bit colder).
After the temperature rises, they are more confident and start picking some plants home. One moment I can't stop smiling is - three young girls (about 9-10 yo, live nearby, come to eat cupcakes from time to time) came with their pocket money and brought many plants back. Isn't it wonderful, kids and gardening?
They even asked me, Phaedra, do you have also strawberry and raspberry plants?
Yes, i did.
I got some more plants for this coming weekend, as the stand is pretty empty now.
Suddenly, my main garden is like a playground full of small treasures.

The cafe garden also works beautifully, besides the very small front yard, it is basically a container garden.
