@seedcorn dogs pick their masters.I had a chow puppy when I met my wife, after dating awhile I went to meet her parents and chow puppy fell in love with her mom. Eventually I just left her there, she lived with them 16 years and is buried here by the creek.
@thistlebloom they caught it I hear and are going to release it in the cabinet mountains. Maybe you will bump into it if you go riding over there again.
REALLY protect your ponies!! Coyotes and coywolves are manageable for adult horses bc they can and will protect themselves esPECIALLY if you have a small or large herd. Bears are a different story. Any animal that can take down a moose will kill your horse in a nanosecond.
At the very least put up motion detector lights to spook. Best practice would be electric fencing. ALthough I am not a fan or E.F. it is a good deterrant to a predator.
