I'm not aware of any special steps required for the Gaspe @Joe Haynes .
I just planted it the way I always plant any corn. When the soil is above 55 degrees, 2" deep, and water in.

You can do a germination test with 10 or so kernels, placed on a damp paper towel folded over and then put in an open baggie and placed in a warm spot, like the top of a water heater or fridge. Check for sprouting every day.

You would get a better idea of the germination percentage with more kernels, but you probably don't have a lot to spare. Although you could plant the sprouted ones in the garden very carefully.

Thanks, I plan on trying it again around the end of May. Hopefully, the long, sunny days in June and July will help improve success.

A soil thermometer is an inexpensive tool that really helps me to not jump the gun with seeds that do better in warmer soil.
When the days are beautiful and sunny they tempt me to plant, but checking the soil temp has made me hold my horses more than once.
