I love yams but mine just come out so so. I've tried using can and fresh but it doesn't seem to matter. I've even made them pureed. Years ago church member would bring some to our church's Thanksgiving dinner. Her uncle always made them for her and I think he was from the south. I remember they had a glazed look to them and weren't swimming in sugary syrup. They were soooo good.

Does anyone have a delicious yam recipe they want to share? Needs to be foolproof. lol

Sweet potatoes right? The actual yams are white and a whole different texture.
Anyhoo....I just microwave mine, and then top with some butter.
Oh...one new recipe I tried....
Sweet potato-cooked
Pan fried bacon slices- as many as you want
Brown sugar
Butter

put precooked sweet potato in a casserole dish, add diced cooked bacon :drool, some brown sugar to taste, and butter if desired.

Bake in oven till browned, maybe 20 minutes at 325F.

Grab big spoon, casserole dish, wrap in big fluffy towel, hide in a back room somewhere and eat till you pop :drool :duc :clap

Bacon makes anything better, so why not with sweet potatoes?
I have seen them fixed with pecans, and brown sugar, but they were just too sweet.
Marshmallows? :sick

The salt in the bacon offsets the sweet in the rest of the recipe.
Now, hubby...when I made that dish....he poured honey on top of it. :sick
He has one wicked sweet tooth :th

I would have thought that with all the good cooks here I would have received tons of ideas or recipes. :(

Bobm, how does your wife fix your yams/sweet potatoes?
