Not only are they controling their employees. Monsanto is also creating organizations that purport to be environmental groups but are actually Monsanto fronts. They also actually hire PR companies to create phony posters whose job it is to spend all their time posting on gardening and farming chat boards. Move over Joseph Goebels, Monsanto is now in control. This article is enlightening.

Thank you for that link Hoodat. I have shared it via facebook. I have this deep down feeling I've built myself an enemy. I'm sure they have files on all of us by now. :/

I want to tell a story of what happened to me this weekend:

I had a lovely accidental meeting on Sunday. At a party with my child and lots of other children, I met a mother. Someone who works for a company that is connected and working with Monsanto. From our conversation it went from my friend's lovely little garden, to my chickens, to the fact the Monsanto is her boss... she is not allowed to watch 'Food, Inc' and can not be found on any membership list to anyone apposing the company or she would lose her job. To end the conversation, she said we needed to change the subject or end the conversation, as she's not even supposed to be talking to me!!!!!! th

This company is beyond.... I don't even have words... they control people's views to the point of making them stupid, all by threatening their jobs!!! rant
Wow. Wow. Wow.....

I answered one of the people who joined...was it ss or byh? and started up with the pro-Monsanto crap. I PM'd her saying she did not have to be a pawn of such an evil company, she was free to get a job elsewhere and not contribute to the evil in this world, etc. She never answered me (of course!), and there were no more exchanges on the forum.

I don't know if they are controlling peoples mind. It is a common practice to support your company. For example, I worked as a sales representative for Pepsi. I could be fired at any point in time for getting "caught" drinking Coke, buying coke, photographed with coke memoriblia or products. I didn't consider it controlling me. It was more showing brand loyalty. I mean I sold soda and I needed to endorse my brand and not go bringinig a six pack of 7 up to a party.

I think what vfem described goes far beyond not using another brand in public....Sounds like she can't rent Food Inc to view in her livingroom or have a conversation with someone who knows what Monsanto is up to. A private conversation at a private party. She could've listened politely and even disagreed, but no, she wouldn't even talk to the woman anymore or she feared losing her job.

If you were at a party and someone started a conversation with you while holding a Coke, or said they liked Coke better than Pepsi, were you required to leave and not talk to that person? Nope, this goes way beyond brand loyalty. This is starting to fit into the definition of brainwashing.

ETA:
brainwashing (brnwshng)
n.
Inducing a person to modify his or her beliefs, attitudes, or behavior by conditioning through various forms of pressure or torture.

Some of you are "out there". I don't work for Monsanto but know hundreds of their employees. I've been at there meetings where they call themselves Monsatan because of some other people's perception......for those that don't understand that is tongue in cheek. Monsanto does NOT fire people for disagreeing w/Monsanto policies or telling people of Monsanto.

You will get fired for not being a respectful person, sharing company patents, etc....just like school teachers and employees of other companies.

For a site that has a rule that companies are not allowed to be liabled or put down, several on this site do that very thing and seem to go unreproached. I wonder how someone would be treated if they spent 1/2 the time showing the hyprocosies of those in the organic movement. How the organic community will print anything for a dime while doing 0 actual research and ignoring all scientific studies. I've read support of slave labor products over American products, support of not feeding starving people because they don't eat the approved products, such elitest behavor is deplorable.

Want organic, open pollinated, non-commercial fertilizers, chemical, spend your money to support that segment and it will flourish. Positive support will do more than the thousand of exaggerated untruths told by some.

What forum have you been on, because you aren't talking about this one! We point out hypocrisy wherever we find it...ESPECIALLY with the organic movement...which is why I haven't purchased anything manufactured by organic valley in months.

We are actively supporting open pollination, local small producers and farmer's markets. We also grow what we can ourselves.

We don't have to agree but your generalization is wrong. Sorry you just don't get it.

This is a general gardening forum, not an organic gardening forum but I have noticed something very interesting. The more experienced the gardener, the more likely they are to turn to organic methods; not because they have an agenda but simply because organic methods are the ones that provide the best results.

I posted this on the topic over on BYC, but felt it's worth sharing here.

Don't let your representative tell you there is no scientific proof that GMOs are harmful. In fact in May 2009, based on scientific evidence in animal studies, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called for

Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks
.....AND.....
For a moratorium on GM food, implementation of immediate long term independent safety testing, and labeling of GM foods, which is necessary for the health and safety of consumers
And so far, Monsanto hasn't managed to tell or force the AAEM to "put a lid" on it.

When wrting (or responding) to your congressmen, reference articles such as the following to make your point that there is scientific evidence that GMOs are not safe. Here are two, one from the AAEM website, and another well documented article.

AAEM press release on Genetically Modified Foods
http://www.aaemonline.org/gmopost.html

Doctors Warn: Avoid Genetically Modified Food

I also feel anyone owes to themself and their health to read these articles.
Thanks Hoodat for the link you shared.
