Missing the Parsnips this Year

Love my parsnips. But have had no luck growing them. My late Father-in-law always had big crop he would share. I miss him.

That is sad. I never really had much experience eating those. Ive had some once but didn't had any for a while. I hope I can have some once more..

i've never grown them nor do i remember ever eating them. some day i will.

I've planted them after Mother's Day. That is usually when the plant zones tell us, both in Calif and now up here. Keep the soil wet? Nope...too much of a drought down there in Calif for that. Maybe that's why they never grew.

Usually cool soils. Parsnips hate cool soils to germinate in

I could put this elsewhere where it wouldn't just be people interested in parsnips looking at it but it reinforces what @seedcorn says. From Oregon State University (originally from UC Davis):

Okay, imagine conditions outdoors changing over that many days. One might be advised to plant some seed deeper but not something like parsnip seed. Soil moisture is not likely to be consistent without the attention of the gardener.
