This has been the mildest, driest Winter I ever remember here but the mild weather is good for something. This is what my garden looks like right now. Left to right;
Gailaan, giant red mustard greens and cauliflower. In he left background is my rosemary in bloom.

How often do you have to water to keep it looking so lush?
That's a problem this year. We haven't had a single soaking rain and we're half way through what should be the rainy season. So far I haven't had to water more than every ten days or so because I have it mulched with newspaper covered by a heavy layer of rabbit manure.

Ha! Purple cauliflower!

Easier or more difficult to grow than the white, Hoodat?

One or two of my rosemary plants have a bloom . . . in the greenhouse ;). I may be eating on Guy Lon or something similar in a week or two.

I think it's easier than the white. You don't need to tie the leaves over it to keep it from going green and the insects seem less attracted to it. The real reason I like it though is that it contains more antioxidents than the white so it's better for you. looks nice in a salad also.

What a treat to see such a lovely, lush garden! A sight for sore eyes! That cauliflower looks fab... I have never been successful with it. Maybe I should try the purple?

A long cool season seems to be what it likes. This Winter has been like a prolonged Fall here so it's just right for the cabbage family. I think my piled on rabbit manure also had a lot to do with it. I put newspaper between the plants and pile on the bunny berries up to 4 inches deep. Lift up the corner of the newspaper and I see swarms of fat wine red worms.

M-m-m-m, for a piece of land that I could work like that during the winter. Hoodat, ya done good! Green isn't just for growing things. Green is for envy...serious zone envy at this time of year.
