Wow, what an amazing difference! For all of it's issues, it's a very cute house! .. and great that you don't have a mortgage.

Our house wasn't quite as bad, but our property was a jungle like that...trees leaning on the house, grasses as tall as me.. no vines in the bedroom though.

What a lovely setting! I especially like the soft trees and area by the propane tank in the before pictures. The house came out great. I like how you did that pergola leading from the carport to your house. It must help a lot during rainy weather. Looks like you have plenty of space to grow things in. We got a 15 year refinanced mortgage years ago and I think we have less than 5 years, can't wait till it's paid for.

Okay...it may be possible. But here's the dilemma... We are in our 50's. Hubby will be 59 this year. The house is paid off, cash..no mortgage.
This house has tons of needs....where to start...where to start.
We are too old to take out anything liek a second mortgage...and by the time work would be completed, might be in the old folks homes ourselves.
So...we have decided we will address emergencies only..like the toilet trying to fal through the bathroom floor this past November.
We have brought the house up to cleanliness standards. I am not afraid to cook and eat int he kitchen.....my OCD is happy with where the bathroom stands for the time being..and our bedroom is clean, new and critter resistant.


It's all about priorities.
But I can live vicariously through y'alls home improvements....relocations.....etc...

OH no!! I forgot to tell y'all about the garage!! It's its own mess. We cannot park our vehicles INSIDE the garage. Whomever poured the concrete drive....messed up bigtime. Directed all drainage right into the garage doors.
So....how to fix it they ask? Pour a new slab.....but not INTO the garage. There is a 6" drop, from the carport slab to the garage slab. It only LOOKS like a garage.
It's hubby's woodshop for us.

That's a beautiful setting.....but probably not feasible in our situation.
And there basically is NO living room...like normal houses.
The exterior poles, running through the main room, disrupt any "conversational grouping" type ideas.
So..we make do.
