Staying true to my word, as I threatened to tell you about myself. So sit back, put your feet up, get that cup of tea/coffee/bourbon and be prepared to be bored to tears!
Our house was originally built for my grandparents, when they sold the homestead (where they farmed and raised 13 kids during the depression) and most of the land. A lot of the Aunts and Uncles purchased some of the land and built their homes. The house I grew up in, is right next door to where we live now. I grew up surrounded with family. So basically hick central!
I met my husband in the Air Force. We were in sister squadrons. I spit out enough children that it was cheaper for me to stay home than continue my career. Hubs retired after 22 years and we moved back here, where I grew up.
My folks, grand parents and Old Uncles always had huge gardens, started their own seeds, saved their own seeds and canned everything they could get in a can. If not, it was frozen!
Once we moved back home, my Old Uncle that lived next door, came over one day and asked if I wanted a garden. I was tickled. Told him yes I wanted to start small. I was thinking that maybe a Tomato plant? A pepper plant? Maybe a flower or two. Off I ran to the store. Big mistake. Huge. I didn't notice that he had the tractor out, I only seen the tiller. I got home and he had torn up enough of the way back to feed a small starving nation. My idea of small and his were completely different. And so it began . . .
