I know a lot of use have discussed our all time favorites and things we were interested in trying. I'd like to see a list of 'for sure' plantings your going to try for 2012.

New type of sweet corn? New potatoes? New perennial flower? Or perhaps an herb or veggie you've never had ANY variety of before?

Go ahead and share what it is, pictures or where you found it and are buying it from. I'd love for you even to come back later and tell about your experience and how that new planting worked out for you. Total fail, giving it another try or it was just PERFECT!?

We are doing our garden totally different this year.
I have not been able to have a veggie garden for 4 years due to the neighborhood cats. :sick
This year I said enough is enough. I am putting a pergola over the whole garden and adding chicken wire. I am also going to use my chickens as garden aids. I am caging EVERY plant in the garden so they do not get them all.
I am going to plant:
Lemon boy tomatoes
Lemon cucumbers
Lettuce
radishes
carrots are still a maybe
I want to grow bush beans and the usual squashes.

You'll like Lemon Cucumbers, there neat. They taste a little sweeter then regular English Cucumbers, and it's a great way to have Cucumber Lemonade 'without Cucumbers'.

Here are this year's new additions to my flower garden...
- Bearbind (Convolvulus tricolor) - Mixed colors
- Morning Glory (Ipomea purpurea) - Clarke's Heavenly Blue
- Sea Lavender (Limonium sinuatum) - Pacific Midnight Blue
- (Limonium suworowii) - these are interesting. still have to think of a pronouncable name for them...
- Elisabeth/Gentian (Elisianthus exaltatum) - Deep Blue Single Tall type
- Stocks (Mathiolla incana) - Vintage Red Double type
- Bachelor's Buttons (Centaurea cyanus)
- Forget Me Not (Myosotis cynoglossum)
- Ladybird (Cosmos bipinnatus) - Vintage Sea Shells mixture
- (Zinnia marylandica) - Zahara Rose Star
- Farewel-to-Spring (Clarkia amoena) - Monarch Dwarf mixture

And I'm re-introducing flowers that were once in my garden, but died quite a long time ago
- Lupine (Lupinis) - Yellow Gallery

I am trying a new "black" cherry tomato (love the full size tomatoes of that type), a new "mini" cantaloupe from Gurney's (we get a short season here and the full size Cantaloupes just don't make it), a new italian globe eggplant that is pale lavender and white. A new shorter season corn that is supposed to be as tasty as full season sweet corn (we shall see), and a new warm weather spinach and red leaf lettuce as well as many other items but I am most excited to see about these items. Oh and a new purple potato that is supposed to be divine!

Well, I'm not as adventures as some of you. I always plant the usual boring stuff. But I do have a big container that I think I'll try potatoes in. Vfem, you have inspired me to do this since you grow yours in buckets. Now, if I can only find yukon golds. :/

Not a recent picture but this I am planning to put landscape fabric in between the rows so I won't be walking on on dirt or mud.
