Officially retired!

My wife (some non-retired friends) think me nuts for working part time. Sometimes it’s full time with part time pay, but I enjoy it, gets me out of house, I get to train young people (give them a lot of crap as well), interact with those I want, and quit anytime I want.

Before I said with no job, I know where I & wife would be. One in grave, other in jail for murder-just didn’t know which was which..

You might want to do some research on how to be retired. Maybe joining AARP would help with that. They appeal to a broad range of interests that retired people have. Lots of ads but ours is a consumer society.

I well remember when Dad retired. Earlier, he had said that he would fish, hunt, go camping, travel, and take a nap every afternoon. He did one thing, scheduled naps.

I said, "Dad, you are always angry." He says, "I am NOT!" But, he was. Then, he took a part-time job. After about 18 months, he was a little saner. (See? There's Hope for @seedcorn .) He had some time to adjust.

I have already joined AARP. DH retired before I did and is always busy with one project or another (although NOT what I think needs doing!) This last 2 weeks we have had grandsons every day while Their day and his girlfriend are at work. Something we could not do when working. I have a LOT of hobbies and plenty of supplies in my Stash to keep me busy for a long time. I plan to do lots of volunteer work too. PLUS Mother-in-law is needing more help/attention.

Oh yes we do! Thankfully he has plenty of projects to keep him out of may hair part of the day. I plan to get busy volunteering some too and if it gets bad will take a part time FuN job .

that is why the man cave exists... i know an elderly couple that the only time they really see each other is for breakfast and dinner and falling asleep next to each other in their recliners each evening. the rest of the day he's out in his shed way out back...

i'm glad Mom and i get along well enough that i don't often have an urge to hide, but when i do i can close my door and put my ear muffs on and that's fine. so i guess my man cave is more like a boy side nook...

After driving that bus would a part time job or volunteering involve kids? Or would it involve driving? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Believe it or not @Ridgerunner WITH KIDS. I really think I am going to miss my littles. The schools are always looking for reading buddies, lunch buddies and surrogate Grandparents.

Trying to catch up on reading posts and I just saw this one. Congradulations and I'm sure you won't need to find a part time job.

Looks like you retired on my birthday, haha. For some reason I thought you were retiring the end of this year in December. I still have a little over a year, waiting till half of my group moves on to kindergarten which will be next August. Then I'm giving a 6 month notice to the remaining 4 kids and hope their parents take the hint and find a place right away, haha.

@ninnymary The end of the year for most in education is June The school years splits a calendar . So far I have been far to busy to even notice I am not at work. Seems everyone thinks I have all this time to do stuff for them now. I have trouble saying no or can it wait? My stuff waits but I get right on the requests. I am going to have to do better about that.
