Well; im glad that’s behind me! Up at 3;30 and headed to fish creek for some dip net action. Each year it’s possible to dip these Red’s if the escapement goal of 35,000 fish is met by mid July. From the bridge to the mouth of the stream is about 1.5 miles and this is the allowable area for dippin.
here’s a shot of the mouth as i wait for the 6:00 am opener along with the tools of the trade after everything was cleaned up.

Here’s the Prize; 26 Sockeye Salmon. These will be our fish for the year. These are 2 meal fish so 26 of them works out perfect for Salmon once a week. Im allowed 35 but was very tired and quit with these. Net went in the water at 6:00 and i was home by 8:30😊

And once all the smoke cleared the “left overs” go in the hydroslate barrel; joining numerous others from previous years And giving this post a real tie to “the Garden”.
Everything likes my fish emulsion!

this link will entertain you for sure. I don’t do the mud thing but rather put the boat in at high tide and motor down to the mouth. Look closely; you’ll see everything imaginable!😳
Folks having fun Alaskan style, it was a lot more fun for me when i wasn’t 71!😳 But we sure do enjoy the Salmon.

The Compost trommel is done and im quite happy with it. This years pile was turned for the last time Saturday and covered to let it dry out a bit. Im excited to “run a batch”.

@digitS', our regular crop cukes are “sweet success” which the wife makes into refrigerator (ferment) pickles and we eat a couple big slices daily; even when we are up to our ears in fresh cukes! We’re eating up the last jar from last year and she’s done with this years batch, which totals roughly 15 gallons!

The Inagi may replace the sweet success if it checks all the boxes during it’s trial period this fall/winter?
You might want to try 'Liso Calcutta' gherkins if you like the cukes @Alasgun . Geesh, they are super early, super prolific and the taste & texture are excellent - very, very similar to cukes. Plus they seem to have NONE of the weaknesses of cuke vines. Zeedman says they make fantastic pickles too, though I can't attest to that not having those skills. If you're interested and I succeed with seed saving I can send you some.

It doesn’t look like much YET, but real soon you’ll be staring at my motor driven compost trommel. The drum is 30 in diameter and 4 ft. Long.
no more shakey, shakey the screen.
i have enough time to complete it in time for this year’s compost.
I spent quite a bit of time looking for a “just right motor” before discovering portable cement mixers! More horse power, perfect rotation (28rpm) and 1/4 the price of a Granger motor; and it was on the shelf at the box store!

several other items from the mixer may get used too.
They always talk about Yankee ingenuity, but I think Alaskans have us beat.

2nd cutting of the Anise Hyssop today yielded 19 nice bunches, which are hanging in the shed now; waving in the gentle breeze and making it smell devine!

And a record breaking strawberry, reminds me of the quite large Robertsons i picked in southern Indiana, 60 some years ago.
