Thanks, @heirloomgal; good luck with the planting less thing! I never succeed!

At this point all the greenhouse beds have been dug and 1/2 of them have they’re “couple inches of screened compost and an inch or so of Rabbit poop”. Next week i should finish up and it will be ready for the long nap.

I'm very jelly of that rabbit poop too. :) What a great natural sourced fertiliser, and very economical too.

I did mine today. Feels great!

That looks like a pretty “fresh” picture, we can still see the fog from the pressure washer!

i really liked the results of pressure washing but didnt care for all the drippy. These days i use a sponge mop and a bucket. Yea i gotta work off a ladder but it seems to be working.

the big one up here is the outside cleaning in the spring. You wait till after pollen season then use a long pole brush with a hose attachment and i can reach all the way to the top pretty easy.

Oh we’ll, not much washing going on for a while now.😏

Currently im back on the compost. Another couple days and it will be complete. Got hay hauled for the rabbits today; so im good there for the year. Before you know it im gonna be done with all the “pre winter stuff” and that will be a happy day.

All the garden seed has been ordered! Last year i did this on black Friday (as every year) and still had some issues. Either the “new” has worn off for those freaking out last year or the extra couple weeks was a good plan. In any case now i can patiently tap my toe a little longer than usual while waiting to blow the whistle!

Well; we been here before😳, and a couple days ago had a “measurable snow fall”.
takes about 2 hours when i plow mine and 1 neighbor. This year i’ve added a blower to the stable and can see a lot of potential. However it’s not a direct replacement for the wheeler/plow!

Now i can come and go to the Rabbit barn in my flip flops again😳

Oooh gosh.... I know that weather is coming for us soon, I'm bracing for impact. I guess I can be thankful that snow is a bit late this year, though there was sleet on the highways today. I actually don't mind the snowsuit, the layers, scarves and mitts, or the shovelling. It's starting up the frozen solid car at -38 C. Something about all that frozen metal in the a.m. makes my bones ache.

Did you get any new kinds of things to grow (---> last post)?

Good evening @heirloomgal, -38 would be brutal! We had plenty of that in the Dakotas but not much snow. The temps are more temperate here (with the leaves gone; i can see Cook Inlet) but we get plenty of snow each winter. Or maybe i’m just a whiner? Many get more than we do.
The older i get the less i like all that.

”The list” has a couple different yellow summer squash; in my quest for perfection?? Not sure i know what that is but i’ll bet i know it when i see it!
There’s also a new cuke (unagi) in the box. Typically we grow Sweet success with great success but they’re a little short in the disease package department. I’m not sure how that will go as i need to maintain some separation between them. I’m thinking about setting up the hardening shed right against the end of the greenhouse and continuing to use it as a sort of greenhouse annex?

over the years; we’ve tuned the list to a point where “known entity” is more important to us than “new and exciting”; which must acompany old age!😊

I googled weather in the Dakotas, just for the fun of it since I'm learning all about US geography and weather on TEG. I had no idea that it got so cold there, wow. What I read said that North Dakota is a state that has one if not the most wild seasonal fluctuations in temperature. 😮 Those settlers must have been a real tough bunch. And I haven't even googled wildlife there yet!

I tell people, “this is like Miami, next to where we use to live”; referring to Alaskan weather.
One winter we went 90 days straight where the daytime high was below zero. During that time; on one occasion all the mercury was in the bulb and the lowest number was -40! Below that number it was still a 1/4 inch to the top of the bulb.😳

yeah, the upper plains can be brutal with the cold, there's nothing stopping that cold air from the north once it gets howling. living in upper Michigan those years ago i learned very much to appreciate the buffering effect the lake could have on the temperatures until later in winter when it would freeze over. lake effect snows were the trade-off. i'm quite ok with snow. :)
