Shallot bottoms
Will you use the green tops, Phaedra?

We have been using the shallots from sets that I started from hybrid seed several years ago. I should call them @hoodat shallots since he was also saving hybrid seed and that encouraged me :).

Yesterday, I carried home the Zebrune shallots (open pollinated) started from seed in the greenhouse, this year. Haven't tried them -- all I can say is that they are big fellas ;).

Hi Steve, yes, I will use the green parts from shallots, scallions, onions and also garlics. They are necessary ingredients for many stir-fry dishes.. Hoever, I didn't have luck for planting shallots from set (also onions), sigh. Before harvest the pests always found them. I want to plant them from seeds next spring.

Et voilà!

All the efforts are worthy for such a sunny moment. It was the first time I paid a lot of attention while cleaning this area. Finally, I know what we have from this corner and will start to think about future arrangements.

A week ago, this corner was in horrible shape.

Now it's an asset instead of debt.

When we sit on the bench, we can have a view of both ponds.

There is another small trail to the other side of the garden. It needs another two days to clean up. After that, the autumn maintenance of the pond area is complete.

This morning we also had our Sunday brunch in the garden shed. Nothing fancy, but we both felt satisfied and relaxed. It's far better than having it in any other coffee shop.

We spent more than 3 hours having food and then read what we wanted to read.

Dahlias from our garden are so fresh and pretty.

The Sunday brunch time is a quality time to spend with my husband. During these few hours, we always chat about many things and laugh at each other.

It's a wonderful Sunday, and we are fully charged for the coming week.

I am pretty busy this week but finished the last sowing of frost-hardy leafy greens.
33836.jpg

Coneflowers from seeds - I will bring them into the greenhouse this winter. Next year I will have many of them and lavender (also from seed) to plant in the garden.
33835.jpg

It's my first year planting leeks, and they look great. Next year I will grow more.
33837.jpg

After the curtain of Oriental Lilies, the stage under the willow tree belongs to this light purple Aster.
33830.jpg

Marigold (Eskimo) - The shape and the color are quite different from ordinary Marigold varieties. It is also my first time planting them, quite recommended.
33832.jpg

"Recycled Onions" - aren't they just cute?
33834.jpg

I also planted several sunflowers in different areas. All of them grow well, and I can harvest more than 100 flowers in a short time. I will keep some flowers for seeds to plant next year, but most belong to the chickens and birds in the garden.

Leafy greens are ready for harvest again! So delicious.

Today is Election day here, and we are going to help at our city hall later. I finished most of the garden work planned for today in the morning. Here comes first the photo of our dog, Momo. She was rescued when she was about two months old. After she was five months old and could take a flight, she came to us with another dog, Bobo, just one week after we moved into this house. She was timid and nervous because all her brothers and sisters were caught (rescued) in front of her. But anyway, now she is our beloved daughter and enjoys her life here. I took this photo last night when both dogs were already in my daughter's room. Momo looks like a puppy again in this angle.

I harvested some beans, leeks, chives, and carrots.

Besides, I cut some Dahlias and arranged them for the kitchen island.

I don't think we can be fully self-sufficient, but our garden could offer us many goodies. Those purple-skin carrots look so pretty, and I used them (with our potatoes) for making curry.

It's an ordinary day, but this week I need to make some sauces. What I finished today was a special chili sauce. It is finally a chili sauce that I am pretty satisfied with.

We cut part of the hedge, and more are waiting. The temperature dropped quite quickly this year, and next week we might have lower than 5 degrees C at night.

I also re-organized some bottles and jars for liquid and powder. Nothing special, but it's nice to see things becoming closer to the way I like.

It's much easier to decide how much I want to use when they are in such bottles.

I read something like this a few days ago and liked it.
"We shape our homes, and then our homes shape us."

I heard from a Podcast: Autumn is the second spring. Fully agree.

Dahlias, which come in different shapes and colors, decorate the garden with a bright and energetic atmosphere.

Citrus plants and sweet Osmanthus are the major reason why I decided to build the greenhouse.

I love the sweet fragrance of Osmanthus so much, and their flowers are just cute.

i didn't expect there will be so many sunflowers growing up here, but they look not bad (but unfortunately, today we have quite strong wind).

I have a decent harvest today and can't wait to make them into delicious dishes.

The fragrance of Sweet Osmanthus is so charming. Although there were not too many flowers, I picked some and covered them with sugar. Hopefully, a few days later, I can enjoy some milk tea with its wonderful smell.

I also cleaned some raised beds and brought the tops or greens to the chickens. Before I had chicken, I had no idea how much they love veggies.
