chain-smoking Azalea is pulling in the crowds at the recently re-opened zoo in the North Korean capital


The 19-year-old chimpanzee has taught herself to use a lighter to fuel her pack-a-day smoking habit


Even if there is no lighter, the chimp has picked up on how to light her smokes with discarded cigarettes


Zoo officials insist the chimp, who also goes by the Korean name Dalle, does not inhale any of the smoke

My friend Kristine worked with chimps at NYU. They had several retired circus chimps, the chimps had been there for years. When ever they saw a person they would make the sign for a cigarette, even though it was years since they had one.
