Please Help Me ID

These little cacoon looking things are all over my blackberry bush. It's almost like a shell because their little legs stick out.

Can anyone help me? What are they? Good? Bad?

Try this link. The leaves on the far right photo to the far right of the leaves -- these gall look a bit larger than the flatter ones to the left.

It is softer than a shell (I had to go pluck one this morning). The underside of it actually makes it look like a blanket wrapped around the actual bug. When I grabbed it the thing sucked up in it's little cocoon/shell/blanket and just stared at me. Legs and all can come out and go in.

These don't attach to the leaves like that. They hang on or sit on the top of the leaf.
