As long as you keep them deadheaded, and don't let the root creep out of a drain hole, that's about the only way you're going to be able to enjoy them.

I asked my mom the same question, and she said, "No! It will spit seeds all over the place!" and something about spraying Roundup on it today. :/

Here in the desert nothing is ever really invasive; once the person stops watering the desert returns. We actually adore other folks weeds. :D
