monty tell your wife those teas are a lot of work. get a david Austin rose. most smell wonderful with good disease resistance. the antique roses are no fail. they have survived the test of time. many of the antiques have lived in cemeteries for generations without help. the hybrid tea roses are the ones that have given the roses a reputation of being difficult to grow & having to constantly deal with pests and diseases. hybrid teas are the most common in the big box stores. they are designed for the blossom so most have little to no scent and form is angular and spare. the teas require pretty specific pruning.
I don't remember what zone you are, but I bet I could come up with a short list of roses for you to consider if you gave me your parameters.
