While I was in San Francisco today it was pretty quiet here.

Endocrinologist prescribed an immunosuppressant for me today. It is medicine similar to what transplant patients take.

My immune system is attacking my Thyroid gland and my eyes. It's way too robust.

(Neanderthal immune system and modern human thyroid?) (hybrid incompatibility?)

I'm hiding with the lights off . . . . . . . . nah, I'm in the south room, the darkness is outside. The tricksters are coming to the front door but it doesn't do much good if I'm out there and DW is back here with Garbanzo the dog.

Bonzo is toooo high-strung for casual visitors. She hasn't bitten anyone ever and will be somewhat friendly with most, given a little time. But first - yikes!

Bonzo is bad enuf here with my company. I think she has finally dozed off but that will only last until she detects another trickster from her position here with her ear pressed to the closed door, 40 feet from the invading hoard & the candy bowl!

We're about a half mile up a private road a few miles out of town. There are two houses below us and three above, but the youngest kid on the road is now a sophomore in college. We don't even turn out lights on anymore. No need.

Sorry to hear about your rogue immune system Marshall. I hope the medication helps.

We have never in 35 years had trick or treaters at any of the places we've lived. Probably something to do with being out in the sticks...
But it's just as well because I would have a hard time staying out of the treats. :)

Zero trick or treaters here!

Course, the nearest kids that live to the lake this time of year are... Potter Valley, 20 miles away!

I think the last time I bought candy for Halloween was in 1998 or 99!!! We live out in the "sticks" too and no one is going to walk up this road for treats....too far out of the way. My time for trick or treating is "limited" with the DD, but I got two grandies I can take :D If mommy lets me.

Marshall, I guess the doc told you that the immunosuppressant will make you much more vulnerable to infections of all kinds. Just be careful, and if you get sick, remember that you won't heal as easily if the immunosuppressant is doing its job. That includes cuts, flu, ulcers, sinus infections. It's a scary choice to have to make. My mom has to take a "biologic" infusion that lets her catch every infection that comes along. And costs about $4,000 a month.

Did all of you send all of those witches and goblins to our house or what ? :barnie Since we moved into town 2 years ago, we average over 100 tricksters . :ep This year it seamed like they all formed a line and we had to keep the door open from start to finish. Last year we ran out of candy about half way through the onslaught of the zombies and had to go to the store for more. :pop This year we bought way over 100 pieces of candy and still ran out before we had about a dozen more stragler space aliens and movie starlets show up after 9 PM. :coolsun This is a far cry from 2-4 undead that showed up at our ranch each year for over 20 years. :idunno

We used to get kids from Tijuana. The parents would bring a carload of them but now it's too difficult for them to get across the border. I never minded. You could tell by the raggedy clothes (not a costume) that those kids probably didn't get many treats the rest of the year.
