It goes well with the article that i linked in coffee thread today. We grow and export apples and no doubt other fruit. And yet, our fruit balance of trade is a deficit because we import so much fruit. Other countries have more problems with that reliance on international trade ... burning up diesel to move ships across oceans ...
Some of us can build machines but why build megaton ships to carry what we don't really need?
