we all had party lines number was BA something else like 4 numbers after but had
to make sure no one else was on the line

I remember running to the phone because it was LONG DISTANCE and it cost money! Long distance was a big deal. We had a phone alcove in the hallway when I was a kid. All phones were hardwired and belonged to the phone company. If you wanted a longer phone cord, the service man had to come out and rewire a cord for you.

Sorry, still have some landlines (one at home and at the office) and I do NOT miss them all over the place. The modern smart phone fulfills some of the wishes that I had as a kid. It is SUCH a convenience and I do not want to go backwards. I applaud you for missing them bc I think you should have what you want...if you can.

We've land lines, but the phones have changed from phones that seem to last forever to these delicate,,watch how you handle, break easy things.

True, which is why teenagers shouldn't be GIVEN a smartphone. If they work for and pay for it, that's different, but the $ spent isn't valued.
