Somehow, It's Funny that Way

if you've not ever seen any of James Burkes Connections series on tv it was one of the most interesting shows to me, and i've never seen all of them. i should see if i can get them on DVD from the library to watch sometime this winter.

there's a good chance though that now both of us would fall asleep before too long. :)

2 and I thought it was 7
I often do that. Complained to DS and he sent me a bedside clock with hands.

Now, I confuse minute and hour hands.

However. I realized not long ago that I have a personal clock. After rising, using the bathroom and while washing my hands — if I have difficulty looking at myself in the mirror, I return to the bedroom and look at that clock. Only then do I decide to stay up or return to bed.

Something like this actually occurred in real life. A home appliances company did an advertisement offering air conditioners for "199 bananas" (assuming people would understand the slang for "dollars"). But a lot of people showed up with 199 ACTUAL bananas, and, when they turned those people down, they sued, and the court said they were in the right.

(note, this was in the 70's, hence the prices.)

OK, I am now getting to be "old as the hills"--WHEN did Anybody call dollars "bananas"?!?!?
I understand "bucks", referencing deer pelts.
I Also understand "balloons" bc Mobile Notaries are tested on and must UNDERSTAND loan terms without expressing any opinions about your particular loan package.
Anyway, living with an attorney for 45 years has taught me that you have to be totally LITERAL when expressing yourself.
I lose a LOT of hairs that get split in our conversations! :gig

I think it was urban slang, like calling them "clams" or paper money "lettuce"
