Someone ruined my garden. :(

Ughhhh, I would cry! That's so frustrating!! We had trouble with a neighbor's dog attacking our chickens until we made them pay for the damage. It's amazing how people don't even consider the consequences of their actions, or just don't care. :(

That is terrible! I think you need to take pictures and show them to ALL your neighbors. They need to realize what their children or dogs have done.

I'm starting to think it's not even worth trying anymore. Someone let their dog run through my garden (or kid) my corn is all flattened and smashed on top of my squash, zuchini, and green beans. The only thing that hasn't been thoroughly squashed are the tomatoes. It's too dark to see much other than the corn is completely hopeless, its been smashed at the roots. This is the first garden I've had thats been any kind of success, and as soon as I get something growing someone else has to come along and destroy it.

I wish there were more growers and fewer destroyers.
This is so sad to hear. I hope the morning brings a better look at a garden that's not as hopeless as you first thought.

I would be inclined to think the damage was done by people rather than dogs. Dogs running amok wouldn't smash corn plants unless they were very short. Kids running after dogs running through your garden could do a lot of damage, however.

Corn is more hardy than we sometimes give it credit for being. Try standing the stalks back up with stakes and string and they should just keep on growing. Best of luck with what's left to grow!

Do you really think so @Smart Red ? I went out and staked it just in case, and really the garden looks a lot less trashed that way. I have one surviving zuchinni plant (and really, do I need anymore?) and I forgot that I planted some cucumber between my tomato plants, which were untouched. :)

Now that using mary wanna is legal but expensive due to high state taxes in Washington State, the potheads are thinking that you are growing it among the corn and were in the process of " harvesting " some on the cheap. Corn is one of the favored hiding cover plants when growing the other crop in Cal.

Who knows what happened. Now that I've had time to think about it, I wonder if the person tearing through my garden might have been running from a dog. Not all the loose dogs are nice.

If I had that many mean dogs around, I'd do something. Lead poisoning or old fashioned poison. No call for that! First time dog tried to corner me, would be his last day on this earth alive.
