There is a real push on TV now to sell some kind of super Round-Up that is supposed to last a year, I think. It shows Mr Joe Familyman, out there spraying his driveway, protecting his yard from those scary dandelions.
The advertising industry is so fascinating, how they can make fake food seem to be totally wholesome, and give the descriptive name "healthing" to cleaning sprays that kill all bacteria, good and bad.
I just reread an article that talks about glyphosate now showing up in breast milk. Next will come an advertising push that says Round-Up is good for new-born babies.

I hate those roundup commercials where Mr Joe Familyman is smiling as he shoots the dandelions with roundup. I pity the poor dandelion--it could come live in my garden and I would pick it's leaves for the chickens and pick the flowers for tea, jelly and wine. (got a jug of wine cooking now.....we'll see how it turns out) I guess I am weird because I actually like dandelions, even the ones that come up in the driveway cracks.

@seedcorn, you got me chuckling again. Earlier this spring I applied weed and feed to the house lawns. Now I have streaks of clover growing between dark green, weed-free grasses. DH suggested I apply another round of fertilizer/weed killer going in the opposite direction to catch the missed clover and (few) weeds.

I have no problem with clover in the yard. Really don't mind dandelions until they shoot up with their fuzzies after a mowing. Looks like there's nothing in the lawn but dandelions when that happens. Meanwhile, I am mowing often with the cool weather we were having and now plenty of rain and heat.

Seedcorn, you don't even like clover?? Around here, people plant clover for lawn. Chickens like it, bees like it. What could be bad?

I would take them Why don't you pick some and make wine? I got a jug working now, should be ready in a couple more weeks. If it's good, I'll make another batch. My sister likes wine.... and once in a great while, I do too.

Red, you can buy some easy to apply liquid that will solve your problems, quick and fast.

Lucky, I LOVE clover. Just not in my grass. Why? When it gets hot and dry, it goes away leaving bare dirt. Ever pull the blossoms and eat the bottoms? They are good.

Bay, notice word "wish". I am not picking them. I'm going to give them a drink. They want to live, go to Texas!

Last time I had wine, we were young and ice skating---not a good mix with wine.

Seed, I thought clover was more drought tolerant than grass?
I have it in my "lawn". It's the first to green in the spring and the last to go dormant in the fall. I love it, and have a bag of DWC to toss out there as overseed.
