Chillin' In The Garden
Yes it was a good year for pears here. We even picked some off of our own trees.
We have a small orchard here, but it's only a couple of years old, so I'm just really bummed by missing out on something free. I have 2 apple, 2 peach, 2 pear, 1 apricot, 2 cherries, plus a good sized grape arbor. We moved here in 04 and planted the trees in 05 or 06.
Before I moved in 04, we had a pear tree up the road. We would ride our bikes past it every day. One day we stopped and asked it we could pick some. The owner said yep, they were the nastiest, hardest pears he ever had. He was right they were hard, of course now I know after reading they weren't ripe. Oops, for him. I wonder if that tree is still there. I'm sure he'd trade that bit of knowledge for some of those pears.
