Starting seeds in Peat Pots

I buy my lettuce like that too, Earthbound farms has organic spring mixes and baby spinach in the boxes and I get them at Costco for pretty cheap. I save them for seed starting too!

Thanks guys for replying, I appreciate it ;) . I'm going to get the peat pots and try sowing seeds in them this season.

Thanks Again!

I have noticed the same thing Lesa. They do not "magically" disintegrate. I just water real good and tear the bottom off of the pot when transplanting to the garden. That seems to work ok.
They don't actually break down easily. I've seen them still there at the end of the growing season but roots can go right through them so they don't inhibit growth. I usually tear the bottom off also but they seem to work OK even if you don't. The advantage is that you can transplant things like squash without transplant shock.

It is organic baby spinach. The container is kind of a plastic box...no other way to explain. It has a lid, which I use as a kind of mini greenhouse for germination. Works great!
Gotcha. I think I know what you mean now. :)
