it started raining last night and every time i've woken up it has been raining. we've really needed a good soaker so this is very welcome, plus, i can enjoy a day off from gardening and other outside "issues"... :) :) :)

as a bonus no leaks in the roof noticed as of yet.

with potential frosts in the forecast today will be pepper picking day and then i'll probably get some or all of them cleaned up, chunked and frozen for chili. i've not looked at the plants in a few weeks so there might be none, a little or a lot to deal with.

it turned out to be a lot more than i expected. i had a good 35lbs of Beaver Dam peppers and another 15lbs of green bell peppers. all of the extras are in the trunk of Mom's car now so they can be given away today. i hope all of them get taken. i'm so done with processing food and washing dishes (and guess who will be making chili tomorrow? :) )... need to cook some beans today.

decided to hold off on cooking today because we have enough food in the refridgerator and i'm doing some laundry. my pillows and the inner two pillow cases (i end up using four per pillow) were looking rather sad and so it was time. i have the pillow cases soaking in the sink with some bleach to get them back to white and washed them first with detergent to get the top layer of crud off. after they soak a while longer i'll give them another light wash with a little more detergent to get rid of the smell of bleach. the pillows are in the washing machine and have had a good pre-soak. once they get dried i'll put 'em all back together again and feel nice and tidy for a change. :)

some of the blankets and covers i use for my futon can use a wash but i hate to do that this time of the year with all the dust from shelling and sorting beans still happening. once i get more of that done then it will be time to do some more of this laundry stuff...

i hate sheets and i don't use them. blankets of various sizes and weights are used. in the summer i use a very thin cover and it ends up being tossed off to the side most of the time unless the AC is too cold. in the winter the expression, "As snug as a bug in a rug." applies as i like to have a few blankets piled on with some weight, i sleep a lot better this time of the year.
